Argentina the only country to vote against a UN draft resolution calling for prevention and elimination of digital violence against women and girls.

November 2024 Argentina has 170 FEMICIDES.
At the UN, Argentina voted AGAINST preventing forms of violence against women!
UN: Argentina was the only country to vote against a resolution for the protection of women and girls
A total of 170 nations voted in favor and 13 abstained, including Russia, Iran and Nicaragua. The Government's analysis behind this controversial international position. In a new controversial vote in the international arena, Argentina was the only country to vote against a resolution on the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls in the United Nations (UN) General Assembly.
The resolution was promoted by Russia and had 170 votes in favor, 13 abstentions - including those of the Russian delegation, Iran, Nicaragua and North Korea, and a single vote against, that of the Argentine representation.
The draft resolution focused on the "intensification of efforts to prevent and eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls: the digital sphere." As happened with the vote against the embargo on Cuba at the UN, the positions that Argentina takes in New York are decided in Buenos Aires between the Foreign Ministry and Casa Rosada.
When asked by TN, the Foreign Ministry quietly justified this position by the text of the resolution, which, they understand, included discriminatory issues towards the poor, the gateway to demands in other programs and elements that have no evidence whatsoever.
At the same time, this media was able to certify the discontent among many Western allies, who did support this project and make a very different analysis from that of Argentina.
It is the second time this week that Argentina is the only nation to vote against a project discussed in the chamber. On Monday, it was the only country not to adhere to a resolution on the rights of indigenous peoples.
The measure follows another controversial decision taken by the government of Javier Milei, when on Wednesday he ordered the withdrawal of the Argentine delegation from COP29, the main UN climate change summit taking place in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.
What was the project that Argentina voted against at the UN?
In general terms, and as the title indicates, the project rejected by Argentina promoted the intensification of efforts to prevent and eliminate all forms of digital violence against women and girls.
ARGENTINA'S VOTE AT THE UN AGAINST INTERNATIONAL CONVENTIONS IN DEFENSE OF WOMEN THAT HAVE INTERNATIONAL HIERARCHY.
(While they continue killing us, the government denies gender violence)Our country was the only one that positioned itself against women and girls at the UN in a vote that fully shows its lack of policies to prevent and eradicate sexist violence in Argentina. The resolution obtained 170 votes in favor and 13 abstentions and the Argentine delegation raised its hand to declare itself, as it had already been doing, against the commitment to "intensify efforts to prevent and eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls."
REPUDIATION OF THE VOTE OF THE MILEI GOVERNMENT AT THE UN
Today I feel profound sadness and indignation when I see how the Milei government has decided to vote against a UN resolution that seeks to eliminate violence against women and girls. This vote represents a blow to all of us who work every day to build a more just and safe society for our daughters, our mothers, our friends and ourselves.Every woman, every girl, deserves to live without fear, deserves to be protected and heard. To deny this possibility at an international level is to take a step backwards in decades of struggle and progress in human rights. We cannot allow this regression. Let us remain strong, supporting each other, and demanding a country that respects and values the lives of all. For a society without violence and without inequality!
