Women's empowerment as a path to equality
Women's empowerment as a path to equality
The main objective of this cause (the empowerment of women as a path to equality) is none other than to achieve a fully autonomous life in which women feel free and participate in the environment that surrounds them, facilitating access to social resources. those available, contribute to the recognition of their achievements and work, and to decision-making; and do it not only at work but also in the community.
In order to build egalitarian, stable and fair societies, achieve development objectives and internationally promoted human rights, it is necessary to analyze the quality of life of women and men living together. Improving the business practices of each entity, promoting female leadership and the inclusion of women in all sectors and at all levels, without exception, are key issues to promote gender equality and contribute to the empowerment of women,
There are more and more institutions, associations and different movements that work to achieve parity between men and women, and provide everyone with the space that corresponds to us in the economic, labor and social spheres. The only way to build complete and enriching societies is by incorporating women, with equal opportunities, in the business world.
At the same time, we must break with stereotypes and traditionally established roles, which make women primarily responsible for caring for the family, with the consequent very high personal and professional cost. The data show that only two out of every 100 women perform managerial tasks, three times less than men. Women usually deal with administrative or human resources tasks, while men deal with senior business management.
Some of the initiatives that aim to bring women closer to empowerment and leadership are:
-An equitable distribution of domestic and family tasks between men and women. Although collaboration between men and women in the home has improved in recent decades, we have not yet achieved the desirable co-responsibility. Women still spend more time on domestic and care tasks when they finish their work day.
-Eliminate and break gender stereotypes from our daily lives. They begin in the first years of life, when we establish educational differences between boys and girls. Everyone has the same capacity and should have the same opportunities to make their dreams come true, without limits.
–Protection against any form of violence. Education and training in equality, together with the establishment of support networks for women and the social rejection of intolerable behavior, will promote the full personal and professional development of women.
“A truly equal world would be one in which women run half of our countries and businesses and men run half of our homes.”
